Henry Taub was born in New Jersey. He graduated in High School from San Jacinto and had his undergraduate studies at New York University. He graduated in 1947 with a degree in accounting.

In 1949 Henry Taub, now 22 years of age, founded a company named Automatic Payrolls Inc. This company located above Grinker’s Ice Cream Shop in Northern New Jersey services manual payroll. They did it using different equipment that included addressograph equipment, comptometers, calculators and a bookkeeping machine. In the beginning, Taub concentrated on providing his company’s services to Wall Street’s financial service firms and other small businesses.

The Automatic Payrolls’ first accounts were Finishing and New Era Dye. Over the years, the speed, quality, and accuracy of the services Henry Taub’s business provides became widely known. The business grew to more than just payrolls. With the dawn of computers, printers and punch cards, what was formerly known as Automatic Payrolls Inc., became Automatic Data Processing, Inc. in 1958.

The growth of Automatic Data Processing was enormous. It has expanded to different services to cater to client’s needs. These services include Employer Services, Dealer Services, Claims Services, and Brokerage Services.

Henry Taub retired from the company in the mid-1980s. He has already done a great job establishing the Automatic Data Processing. Now in North America, ADP is one of six companies that S&P and Moody’s rate as AAA. In 2006, it was ranked #2 on Information Week 500. In that same year, Fortune ranked it as #271 on the Fortune 500 largest companies in the United States.
