Dealing With Toxic People
Toxic people can ruin your life. They can affect your happiness, your work performance, and your peace of mind. Dealing with toxic people is something you should avoid at all costs.
Now I understand, in some cases, toxic people can be family members, and that’s a hard pill to swallow, but at the same time, you have one life to live, and you shouldn’t have to live it for someone else.
The best and easiest way to deal with toxic people is to avoid them and get them out of your life altogether, but that’s not always possible.
As mentioned above, sometimes toxic people are loved ones, family members, co-workers, your boss, and friends. Even though they’re toxic, you may not want to get them out of your life, but at the same time, you don’t want to deal with their negativity and how their behavior affects your life.
There are many things you can do that will help you deal with toxic people, so do something about it. If you don’t, you will learn to accept things as they are, and when you do that, it becomes a usual way of life, which can be miserable. You can only blame yourself because you didn’t do anything to change the relationship or find ways to deal with the situation effectively.
Here are some steps to consider:
List all the people you believe are toxic—not just the ones who stand out the most or are affecting your life the most.
Identify the toxic behavior they’re exhibiting.
Be sure they are genuinely toxic, and it’s not something else.
Decide that you want that person out of your life, or, if they are a family member, decide on what you are going to change (such as the way you deal with that person).
Do your research.
